If you sell software to US government agencies, universities, or large enterprises, sooner or later procurement will ask for a VPAT. If you sell into the EU, the ask will reference EN 301 549. Either way, someone has to test your product honestly and write it up properly — that is what we do.
What is a VPAT, and what is an ACR?
A VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) is the blank form published by the ITI. An ACR (Accessibility Conformance Report) is that form filled in with real test results for your product. Vendors often use the names interchangeably; buyers increasingly know the difference and reject ACRs that look like they were filled in optimistically rather than tested.
How we prepare yours
- We test first, write second. Every “Supports” or “Partially Supports” entry in your ACR is backed by manual testing with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and keyboard-only navigation — the same process as our full audits.
- We use the right edition. VPAT comes in four editions — Section 508, EU (EN 301 549), WCAG, and INT. We prepare the one your buyer actually asked for, or the INT edition if you sell into multiple markets.
- We write defensible language. “Partially Supports” with a clear exception note survives procurement review. Vague claims do not, and they create legal exposure.
- We give you the fix list too. Every gap found during VPAT testing comes with a remediation note, so the next edition of your ACR reads better than this one.
Who asks for these
US federal buyers (Section 508 is mandatory in procurement), state and city agencies, universities, and a growing number of Fortune 500 vendor-risk teams. In the EU, the European Accessibility Act has made EN 301 549 conformance claims a standard part of B2B sales since June 2025.
Need an ACR your sales team can hand over without flinching? Tell us about your product and we will scope the testing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a VPAT and an ACR?
The VPAT is the empty template published by ITI; the ACR is the completed report with your product's actual test results. Buyers ask for a "VPAT" but what they want is a credible ACR.
Which VPAT editions do you prepare?
All four: Section 508 (US federal), EU (EN 301 549), WCAG, and INT (covers everything). If you are not sure which one your buyer needs, send us the procurement request and we will tell you.
How long does an ACR take?
It depends on product size - the testing is the bulk of the work, and we test every claim we write. For a typical SaaS product, expect one to three weeks. We scope it before starting.
Will you also fix the issues you find?
Yes - VPAT testing produces the same prioritised findings as our audits, and our remediation service can take them on. Many clients do a remediation pass first so the ACR reads "Supports" more often.
