Accessibility Audit

An accessibility audit is a structured evaluation of a website or app against a standard like WCAG, combining automated scanning, manual testing, and real assistive technology use to find and document barriers.

A credible audit goes well beyond running an automated scanner, since tools alone catch roughly 30 to 40 percent of real WCAG issues; the rest, like whether alt text is actually meaningful or whether a custom widget behaves correctly with a screen reader, require a trained human tester. A thorough audit typically covers automated scanning, manual keyboard testing, real screen reader testing, and a color contrast and visual review.

The output is usually a report listing each issue by WCAG success criterion, its severity, the affected pages, and a specific recommended fix, which then feeds directly into a remediation plan.
