VPAT Quote Request

A VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) describes how a product conforms to accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.2 and Section 508. Once completed and reviewed it is typically called an ACR (Accessibility Conformance Report). Often, yes. An accurate ACR needs current findings. If your product has not been tested recently, start with an accessibility audit or compare packages on pricing (Quick $500 / Complete $2,000). A sample audit report shows the deliverable style.

There is no fixed VPAT price. VPAT/ACR work is quoted with the audit it is based on, because cost depends on product size, the edition and the number of user flows tested. Match the edition to your buyers. The ITI 508 edition covers the Revised Section 508 Standards (US federal), the EU edition covers EN 301 549, the WCAG edition covers WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2, and the INT edition combines all three. If you sell in several markets or are unsure, ask for INT, or tell us in the form who requested the report.

No. ITI states that it does not review or approve VPATs, and there is no official VPAT certification or pass mark. An ACR is your own statement of how your product conforms, so its value to a buyer depends on the testing behind it.

They are conformance levels. Section508.gov lists four terms: Supports, Partially Supports, Does Not Support and Not Applicable. When a product Partially Supports or Does Not Support a criterion, the Remarks and Explanations column should say how the requirement is not fully met.

Whenever the product changes in ways that affect accessibility. Section508.gov notes that each time a product is changed or updated, for example a version change or bug fix, an updated ACR may be required, and ACRs written against the 2001 Section 508 Standards must be redone against the Revised Standards published in 2017.

Treat it as a starting point only: an ACR needs manual testing of keyboard access, focus order, screen reader output and logged-in workflows, which automated checks cannot confirm.
