Israeli Standard 5568

Israel's web accessibility standard, requiring WCAG 2.0 Level AA conformance, phased in since 2017 under the country's Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.

Israeli Standard 5568 (IS 5568) sets the technical accessibility bar for Israeli websites, requiring conformance with WCAG 2.0 Level AA. It implements obligations under the 1998 Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, and it has applied to medium and large businesses since 2017, with smaller businesses brought into scope by October 2020.

Israel treats digital accessibility as directly enforceable: individuals can pursue claims without proving actual damages, and this standard is regularly cited in the country’s relatively high volume of accessibility-related litigation and settlements.
