Vendor Accessibility Questionnaire

A standardized set of questions an organization sends to a software or service vendor during procurement to assess the accessibility of that vendor's product before purchase.

A vendor accessibility questionnaire is used during procurement to evaluate whether a piece of software or a digital service an organization is considering buying meets accessibility requirements, often asking for a current VPAT or ACR, details on WCAG conformance testing performed, and a description of any known accessibility gaps and remediation timeline.

Organizations that skip this step during procurement frequently end up owning accessibility problems they had no part in creating, since replacing an already-purchased, deeply integrated piece of vendor software is far more disruptive than screening for accessibility before the contract is signed.
