What is the difference between an accessibility consultation and an accessibility audit?
A consultation is a one-hour live review: an accessibility consultant looks at your key pages with you, explains the biggest risks and gives you a prioritized plan. An audit is a documented test of a defined scope against the WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA success criteria, with manual screen reader and keyboard testing and a written, severity-ranked report you can hand to developers, lawyers or procurement teams. The W3C notes that evaluation tools alone cannot determine accessibility, so both rely on human review. See a sample audit report.
Can a consultation help if we received an ADA demand letter?
Yes, as a first step. We review the pages and barriers named in the letter, tell you which issues are real and how big the fix is, and outline a remediation plan your attorney can work with. We do not give legal advice. For hands-on testing, fixes and documentation, see ADA lawsuit remediation.
Which laws and standards can you cover on the call?
We triage against WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA and map findings to the rule you answer to: ADA web guidance for businesses, the ADA Title II web rule for state and local governments (WCAG 2.1 AA by April 26, 2027 for entities serving 50,000 or more people, April 26, 2028 for smaller ones), Section 508 (WCAG 2.0 AA) for federal work, EN 301 549 for the European Accessibility Act, which has applied since June 28, 2025, and IS 17802 for India.
Should I use an accessibility overlay or hire an accessibility consultant?
Hire a person to find and fix the barriers in your code. Overlay widgets cannot repair problems such as missing form labels, keyboard traps or a confusing focus order, and in April 2025 the FTC approved a final order requiring overlay vendor accessiBe to pay $1 million over claims that its widget could make any website WCAG compliant. Is there a free way to check my site before the call?
